Prof. dr. Laurie J. Croft

Associate Director for Professional Development

The Connie Belin & Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, College of Education, University of Iowa

Prof. Laurie Croft, a PhD in Educational Leadership with focus on Gifted Education, University of Tulsa (USA), is presently with Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education at the University of Iowa. The advisor of the College of Education Honors Opportunity Program, Dr Croft is responsible for facilitating the coursework for the State of Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement process for educators. As a clinical associate professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, she teaches many classes. As the Associate Director for Professional Development in Gifted Education at the Belin-Blank Center for Gifted, she networks with many other professionals in gifted education around the world.



Prof. dr. Detlef H. Rost

Dr. phil. (University of Hamburg, Germany). Director of BRAIN (Counseling Center for the Gifted);  Prof.  (Educational and Developmental Psychology), Department of Psychology, Philipps-University Marburg and Faculty of Psychology, Southwest University, Chongqing;  Editor of "Zeitschrift für Pädagogische Psychologie” (German Journal of Educational Psychology), editor "Pädagogische Psychologie und Entwicklungspsychologie".  More than 250 publications. Prof. Rost is well-known because of his longitudinal study on gifted children, youths and adults: the Marburg Giftedness Project which started in 1987 and is still running. His main research topics comprise intelligence and giftedness, test anxiety, reading comprehension, self–concept and self-efficacy, educational testing, and research methods in educational psychology.


Prof. dr. Kamyshin Volodymir Viktorovich

Doctor in Technical Sciences, doctor in Educational Sciences. Director of Institute for Gifted Child of National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. Honored Figure of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology. Author of numerous fundamental researches, well-known organizer of Education and Science, state and a public figure.


Prof.dr. Pedro Sánchez Escobedo

PhD in Psychology, University of Iowa (USA). Currently is a full professor at the Autonomous University of Yucatan in Mexico, a former Fulbright scholar, belongs to the prestigious ‘National Research System’of Mexico. Author of textbooks and numerous scientific papers. Prof.dr. Pedro Sanchez Escobedo is committed to the research and development of gifted children in the state of Yucatan and he is establishing the first center in Mexico specialized on the study, attentionand training of gifted students and their teachers.

Prof. Dr. Viire Sepp

PhD in Psychology, Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherland). After graduating from the faculty of mathematics of Tartu University in 1978 Viire Sepp began work as the director of of School of Mathematics and Physics at Tartu University. Under her leadership the institution has developed from a correspondence school with 120 students to modern centre for gifted development – TÜ Teaduskool, the Gifted and Talented Development Centre of University of Tartu with 1700 talented students nationwide. Her research interests are personality and motivation of talented children.
